How to Reach Avdira

Avdira (Abdera) is located in the Xanthi regional unit of Northern Greece, on the coast of the Aegean Sea. Visitors from neighboring countries can travel to Avdira using the following options by road or air.

By Car (Recommended)

The region is easily accessible via the Egnatia Odos (A2/E90) motorway.

By Plane (International & Domestic)

From these airports, you can complete your journey via rental car, taxi, or intercity bus (KTEL).

  • Kavala International Airport "Alexander the Great" (KVA): Approximately 56 km from Avdera (about a 45-minute drive).

  • Alexandroupolis National Airport "Democritus" (AXD): Approximately 121 km from Avdera.

By Intercity Bus (KTEL)

  • International Connections: Daily buses run from Istanbul, Sofia, and Plovdiv to the city of Xanthi through operators like Arda Tur.

  • Local Transfer: From the Xanthi KTEL Station, local buses connect the city center to the village and beach of Avdera.
