The Ancient City of Abdera

Ancient Abdera, known today as Avdira, is one of the most important archaeological sites in Northern Greece. Located in Xanthi, this historic city of ancient Thrace was founded in the 7th century BC and became famous as the birthplace of the philosopher Democritus.
